Churakka Masala Curry kerala style

Today i am sharing the recipe of Churakka Masala Curry.
Churakka is a very healthy vegetable, contains lots of health benefits. It's a rich source of vitamin C, K and calcium. A natural cooling agent because Churakka/Bottle Gourd is a vegetable which is high in water content. This vegetable is good for heart disease, Diabetics and bad cholesterol levels.




Recipe of  Churakka Masala Curry/Bottle Gourd Masala Curry.

Ingredients:

Churakka/Bootle Gourd - 1whole
Onion - 1
Shallot - 2
Garlic - 1
Ginger - small piece
Green Chilli - 2
Tomato - 1
Coconut - 1 1/2 cup
Fennel Seed - 1/2 tsp
Pepper - 8
Cardamon - 1
Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp
Chilli Powder - 1 tbsp
Coriander Powder - 1 tbsp
Garam Masala - 1 tsp
Curry Leaf - required
Cooking Oil - 2 tbsp
Salt - required
Water - required

Method:

First wash and peel the skin off the Churakka, remove the seeds cut the Churakka/ Bottle Gourd into small pieces as shown in the figure.





Next for making Coconut masala paste, heat coconut oil in a pan and add Fennel Seeds, Pepper, Cardamon, Curry Leaf and mix well. Add Coconut to it and fry it until it turns golden brown colour. 





After add Coriander Powder, Chilli Powder, Turmeric Powder, Curry Leaves and lastly add Garam Masala and switch off the flame.When it is cooled down make it into a smooth paste.
     
                                   

Then for the preparing curry, add sliced Churakka, sliced Onion, Curry Leaves, Turmeric Powder 1/2 tsp, crushed Ginger (small piece), Salt, Water and cook well.




When it starts to boil add a tomato sliced and close the lid.




Afterwards add the Coconut Masala paste and cook well.




Season the curry with sliced Shallots, Green Chillies and Curry Leaves.




Churakka Masala Curry is ready to serve a healthy, fine and a dish you will never forget.
